New print

Here is a hard-ground print I made for my Fine Art Practice. I was upset about the scratches on the plate, but they do add atmosphere. It feels great to be making art physically again. Printmaking is a great process and I wanted to recall how to do it. I want to experiment with screen-printing soon. So I will be looking of more images to inspire.

Cape Town Fisheye Snapshots

marchFE1 marchFE2 marchFE4 marchFE7 marchFE8
Here are some snapshots of my Cape Town holiday. I love my Fisheye. The best pictures are the ones where the lines bend. I took a lot of perfectly normal-looking pictures (unfortunately!). This camera is amazing, I only had 2 flops out of 72 photos, that’s a new personal best. I’m looking for more places in Joburg that develop film. I also tried a few double exposures, two is better than one. Have a lovely day! Quaymberley.

Cape Town!

I had the best time in Cape Town with Team Mozweli Running Club. We went to support my dad at the Two Oceans Ultra-marathon and also to get pumped up to run it with the team next year! The race had a beautiful route which I am looking forward to running (56km! Oh my goodness!).

We jam packed our long weekend with the Aquarium, penguin spotting in Simon’s Town, a seal boat trip, Snoekies in Hout Bay, the V & A Waterfront and of course the lovely Long Street pub crawling! I can officially say I can navigate Cape Town without a GPS, all I need is the mountains and sea to tell me where I am! Xoxo Quaymberley

Fine Art work in progress

workingMarch2013

Of course I am working! I’ve been researching my fine art project for this year. I’m reading John Berger’s Ways of Seeing and waiting patiently for Susan Sontag’s On Photography from Exclusive Books. This is an acrylic painting of my friend Cailin. I painted it in one day and I don’t actually want to add many more to it. It’s stuck on my studio wall. I’m working towards a final piece, but this is only a small part of it. Looking forward to doing some painting before going to Cape Town this holiday!

Lomo Fisheye 2

I just got my first toy camera from Lomography. So lucky there is a shop right in Braamfontein. I am so excited to use the Fisheye 2 camera! It hasĀ 170-degree wide-angle view and supposed to be quite unpredictable.

I might have already ruined my first film because somebody (Jade!) wound it the wrong way. So let’s see wait and see what kind of pictures will come out. It’s such a funky cool little camera. Woohoo! Have a great day! Quaymberley.

Finding time

loerie1lowI’ve been so busy now that class has started, I’ve also been teaching on Saturdays and running on Sundays! Here is a beautiful Loerie from outside my balcony. I’m making time to take more pictures. I’d love to try an take a picture a day.

Welcome to my new website! I moved from html coding to a WordPress CMS! It’s going to be much easier updating now with a CMS. It is still a work in progress, so bear with me while I upload everything! xoxo. Quaymberley
